Bertha Harris is a Southern Folk Artist living in Shreveport, Louisiana.
She often paints on wood, found objects and cardboard.
Acrylic paint, drawing materials and latex house-paint are most often used in creating the work. Her latest paintings are typically inspired from memories - including time spent growing up on two plantations and the chores associated with rural Louisiana living.
Harris began painting six years ago, after having made fabric art for more than a decade. She describes herself as being completely self-taught. Harris has a concern for leaving behind both a legacy and historical context for younger generations. She sees her work as honoring those who have gone on before her.
Bertha has been incredibly productive this year, so keep checking in for new work. Previously produced works are also being cataloged.
